  1. The Topeka Capital-Journal Quotes Dr. Mary Jo Taylor in regards to Stafford's SEED Center.

Stafford superintendent Mary Jo Taylor said the district's Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Center served as an avenue for creation of jobs needed for rural communities to attract young Kansans.

"What is the main barrier to return to rural Kansas?" she said. "In a survey with students, they confirmed what we already know. Jobs."

The program is set apart from others because it requires high school students to develop, plan and launch their own business. Upstart companies have included laser engraving of products, a secondhand store, candle and lotion manufacturing, garment printing as well as digital conversion of tapes, slides and pictures.
